Day after Kirti Azad's suspension, BJP old guard goes into huddle

BJP elders LK Advani, Shanta Kumar, Murli Manohar Joshi and Yashwant Sinha are in a meeting now, the purpose of which is not yet clear. This is their second meeting the last two months. They had met immediately after the BJP's resounding defeat in Bihar. Of the four, Advani and Joshi are the Margdarshak mandal members.

Last month, the four leaders had issued a stinging statement that the party was being "forced to kow-tow to a handful', its "consensual character has been destroyed,' and it has been "emasculated' in the last year.

Today's meeting is relevant because it comes immediately after BJP MP Kirti Azad's suspension. The meeting is underway at Joshi's residence.
