UP govt announces Rs 25 crore for Chennai relief

Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav has announced a sum of Rs 25 crore as part of the relief fund for the victims of the Chennai floods.

Torrential rains have left at least 269, according to the Tamil Nadu government. 

The situation took a turn for the worse after large areas of the city flooded. 

The deluge destroyed crucial road and rail links, shutdown the airport, snapped power and telecom lines and left lakh of people stranded.
