That flood-ravaged Tamil Nadu is a long way from normalcy is obvious to anyone.

But not, it seems, to the fanatically sycophantic cadres of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.

Photographs of this banner, taken out by Thirunelveli's regional office-bearer S Muthukaruppan and other worthies, have gone viral on the internet, and for good reason.

The text on the banner says: 'Long live Amma, who single-handedly rescued the state that was drowning in the floods!'

If you think the text was hyperbolic, not to mention insulting of the huge citizen efforts underway in Chennai and elsewhere even as the officialdom has been nowhere to be seen, the image shows (for the benefit of those few who may not have seen the blockbuster Baahubali) Chief Minister Jayalalithaa holding an infant aloft in the floods -- inspired from the epic opening scene in Rajamouli's film.

One is left truly speechless, yes.
