One army jawan has been killed in an encounter in the Rajwar forests of Handwara in Jammu and Kashmir. Two terrorists were also killed in the operation which is still on.


An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in north Kashmir's Kupwara district. Security forces launched an anti-militancy operation in Wadder Bala village of Handwara in Kupwara district following information about the presence of two to three heavily armed militants in the area, a police official said.


He said the exchange of fire between the two sides was going on till reports last came in.
