President Pranab Mukherjee will perform an aarti -- a Chandi homa -- in Hyderabad on December 27 at a private event being held at the farmhouse of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. This is a thanksgiving for the creation of Telangana. At least 2500 purohits from all the 28 states will perform the 10-day non-stop puja.

Interestingly, 10 years ago, KCR had taken a vow before the deity of goddess Durga that in the event of the formation of Telangana he will ensure that waters from all the rivers in India will be used to bathe the deity and he would also tonsure his head.
