Just in: Govt may convene second part of Monsoon Session to pass key legislations after talking to political parties: Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu says. "The govt going to Parliament with an open mind; amendments if any can be approved on the floor of the House," Naidu said.

The opposition has said that the govt has sent no feelers on the GST so far and felt the current atmosphere was hardly conducive for such a session.

The GST Bill, being a Constitutional amendment, has to meet two requirements for passage: presence of at least a majority of members and two-thirds of them voting in its favour in each House. The Government cannot get a Rajya Sabha endorsement unless its able to mobilise support.
