'Off with his head', seems to be the Congress party's answer to the debacle in the Bengaluru civic polls.

Congress dissidents want the high command to remove Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Out of 198 seats in the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, the BJP has won 112 and Congress 68, with results still coming in. Party insiders say the poll defeat shows the waning fortunes of the party in the state. Leading the demand for Siddaramaiah's removal is Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, who is camping in Delhi.

The party believes that if it goes to the assembly polls with Siddaramaiah at the helm in 2018, the BJP will sweep the polls. Kharge also feels that people are against the Congress in Bengaluru. That's what Kharge has been saying on record, as for what is being said off record... let's just say that it shall stay with us.

PM Modi tweeted this reaction to the BJP win: "After MP & Rajasthan, BBMP poll results complete a hat-trick of wins for BJP. This is a win for politics of development & good governance."
