With a day left in monsoon session, govt to push for GST desperately

Just in: The government is likely to push for a vote on Goods and Services Tax Bill today despite continuing disruption with one day left in monsoon session in Parliament.

The GST will help bring down prices as there will be no tax on taxes, said Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

The government introduced the bill in the Rajya Sabha yesterday even as protests continued from the Congress.

The Congress said that the government was trying to cover up slow economic growth by introducing the GST Bill.
