Rajya Sabha chairperson Hamid Ansari is in a difficult position today. If the government moves a resolution to suspend eight Rajya Sabha Congress MPs like Madhusudan Mistry who brought a black flag inside the Rajya Sabha, BJP MPs want a quid pro quo.


Congress MPs are openly stating that Lok Sabha is BJP and Rajya Sabha is Congress and that the BJP resolution will be defeated in the Upper House.


BJP MPs feel the RS chairperson brought the CRPF inside the Rajya Sabha during the passage of the Women's Reservation Bill as it was a dictat from Sonia Gandhi. They therefore also believe that Ansari will not dare suspend Congress MPs.


So, it's a test case for Ansari -- will he be copying what LS Speaker Sumitra Mahajan did (suspending 25 Congress MPs) or will he adopt a different attitude towards Congress MPs who have a majority in Rajya Sabha?

It's wait and watch for now.
