Aam Aadmi Party leader Somnath Bharti defends his crass remark on safe Delhi for beautiful women.


Bharti said that he had just used a proverb to set a benchmark for ensuring a secure environment for girls and women.


"I have just used a proverb to set a benchmark for a secure environment where every woman should feel safe. I meant that every woman will be safe even at night, even if they are wearing jewellery," Bharti sadi.


Bharti had drawn flak from various quarters over his statement that beautiful women would be able to go out at midnight if the AAP Government takes over policing system in the national capital.


Bharti said if the AAP government led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is granted control of the Delhi Police, then they would make sure "beautiful women" are able to go out even at midnight."I am fully confident that if Delhi government is given full freedom (over security), beautiful women will be able to go out even after midnight without any fear."
