Laximikant Ramakrishna, the Indian teacher abducted and then released by ISIS militants in Sirte, Libya returned home to Hyderabad today and said his two colleagues still in captivity are safe.

Laxmikant was released along with Vijay Kumar when their "captors" happened to be a group of their former students.

Speaking to the media today Laxmikant said the captors did not make any demands and had abducted them by mistake. "Nobody tortured or mistreated us there," he said and thanked the government of India and the ministry of external affairs, which helped secure their release.

He said his captors had told him to convey a message to the families of the two men, his colleagues, still in captivity. "The boss of the captors has told me that they will be fine and there is nothing to worry about," Ramakrishna said and added that the captors were his former students and were between 13 to 17 years old.

His father said that he was released after some of the captors, who were students at the university, recognised their teacher. "They all respect teachers very much and this group was taken by mistake, that is what he said," he said.
