Body of Hizbul commander found in nullah in Kashmir

A body of a top militant commander was spotted and fished out from a nullah in north Kashmir Baramulla district, reports Mukhtar Ahmad/Rediff.com from Srinagar. A police spokesman in Srinagar said body of Tariq Ahmad Mir was fished out from Ferozepur nullah near Sumbal.

The spokesman said Tariq was the divisional commander of Hizbul Mujaheedin outfit and an active member of Lashkare Islami involved in recent attacks on telecom towers in Sopore town.

A lesser known outfit Lashkare Islami, it maybe mentioned, had threatened the cellular companies to shutdown their business in Kashmir valley. The spokesman said that the two militants had attacked a naka party of the police near Mirgund on the Srinagar Baramulla highway in the evening of July 31 in which three cops including the station house officer of police station Pattan were critically wounded.
