Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan is upset with her deputy, M Thambidurai, which might result in the All India DMK deciding to remove him during the monsoon session of Parliament, according to highly placed sources in the Tamil Nadu party.

Thambidurai, it is said, does not want to miss an opportunity to speak in the Lok Sabha and criticise the NDA government, be it on the TN fishermen's  issue, or 20 Tamilians shot dead by the Andhra security forces.

It happened yesterday as well, when he sought a response from Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the encounter killings of alleged red sanders smugglers in Andhra Pradesh recently. This irked the Speaker no end, who told him: 'Thambiduraiji, you are the deputy speaker, you can ask me if you want to speak. You should not talk directly to the home minister.'

Thambidurai, it is believed, is forced to take up the issues since the general view is that his party's Lok Sabha performance is below par, and its parliamentary party leader P Venugopal is not able to effectively articulate the collective voice of his 37 MPs.
