Situation in Kashmir worsens as Yasin Malik is arrested

Yasin Malik and Swami Agnivesh have been arrested as they tried to march towards Narbal in Jammu and Kashmir. Heavy security has been deployed in the area since morning after Syed Ali Shah Geelani called for a bandh in the area to protest the arrest of Masarat Alam.

Meanwhile, the cops have also admitted that they violated Standard Operating Procedure, which led to the death of a teenager in Narbal earlier in the day. The police has registered a case at Magam station.

Regretting the killing of the youth, the spokesman added that preliminary enquiry conducted in the matter indicates that the forces deployed have acted in violation of the laid down SOP.
