Hundreds of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's supporters thronged the Ricoh Coliseum on Wednesday, where Indian Ambassador to Canada Vishnu Prakash will be hosting a diaspora event later in the day.

The supporters chanted "Modi, Modi" while dancing to the rhythm of a 'Dholak', flying the Tricolour with great enthusiasm.

"We have come in a dress code to see Prime Minister Modi. When we had gone to listen to Modi ji in Madison Square Garden in New York last year, there were only 15 of us. Now there are 53 people supporting Prime Minister Modi," said one of the supporters.

"Till now no Prime Minister of India thought of visiting Canada. Modi ji is the first prime minister to come here after 42 years. We are happy about that," said another supporter.

Several people of the Bohra community were also present outside Ricoh Coliseum to welcome the prime minister.
