Modi's surprise birthday message for Jairam Ramesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi sprang a surprise on Congress leader Jairam Ramesh by texting birthday wishes, even as he left for the tri-nation tour.

The SMS was followed by a handwritten note to Ramesh, which read, 'Wish you many more happy returns of the day, dear Jairam-ji Ramesh'.

A close friend of Ramesh observed that a thoughtful gesture like this would have worked wonders for the Congress leadership. The friend observed that neither Sonia nor Rahul would have adopted such a public relation exercise and such niceties are lacking in the Congress.
