Heavy rain delays IPL 8 opening ceremony

Heavy rain has delayed the opening ceremony of the eighth edition of the Indian Premier League, leaving fans at the decked-up Salt Lake stadium in Kolkata disappointed.

Even as rain continues unabated spectators are glued to their seats hoping the downpour will subside and the evening's proceedings, to be hosted by Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan, will get underway.

Bollywood stars Hritik Roshan, Anushka Sharma, Farhan Akhtar and Shahid Kapoor are scheduled to perform at the star-studded event.
