The Congress party has slammed Minister of State (External Affairs) VK Singh for his statement that overseeing the evacuation of Indians from war-torn Yemen was less exciting than going to the Pakistani embassy.

The Congress said Singh should focus on his duty and not make unwarranted remarks.

Singh, a former Army chief, who is camping in Djibouti to oversee evacuation of Indians from Yemen, made the comments early Tuesday while briefing the media about the rescue operation of fellow citizens.

Singh termed the evacuation process a difficult task and said that the government is trying its best to evacuate as many people as soon as possible.
