Tulsi Gabbard, the first Hindu Congresswoman in the US, presented a copy of the Bhagvad Gita to Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday, before the MSG programme.

There was a discussion about Prime Minister's proposal in the UNGA Saturday for launching an International Day of Yoga. She said as a practitioner of yoga, she was very interested in the proposal and that she would do her best to try and see in what way she can support the Prime Minister on his proposal.

The Hawaii representative was invited by Modi during the half hour meeting to come to India which she has never visited, but was interested in visiting, at a suitable time, she said.

Officials said that Gabbard, a great supporter of India who has interest in defense-related matters, discussed her approach towards issues of defense as well as international cooperation in terms of working against common threats posed through terror.
