Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth is likely to get an extension of six more months, according to highly placed sources. Prime Minister Modi, say sources, is impressed with Seth's ability to assist the PMO to ensure proceedings during Union  Cabinet meetings run smoothly. Seth has also been a key advisor to the PM on crucial  policy issues.

Seth has been an integral part of the UPA administration over the last three years and Opposition parties, including the BJP, had accused the government of policy paralysis.

Modi, however, hopes, that retaining the same set of senior civil  servants, will work with his government.

This is the second time Seth has been given a six-month extension. Read this.
