Hong Kong group launches civil disobedience campaign

Occupy Central, the Hong Kong democracy group pushing for genuine universal suffrage in the Chinese territory, launched its long-planned civil disobedience movement early on Sunday morning. There were scuffles with police as lines of officers pushed back surging crowds with riot shields. Many protesters wore goggles and wrapped their faces in plastic film in case police used pepper spray.
