Modi to leave for US a day ahead
September 23, 2014  08:43
Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday advanced his trip to the United States by a day.

He will now leave for Washington on September 25.

Sources said that the visit was rescheduled to avoid the night curfew in Germany. Night flights -- those between 11 pm and 5 am -- have been banned in Frankfurt, Europe's third busiest airport, since 2011 following complaints by local residents about the noise, reports NTDV.

The PM's plane -- the Air India One -- will halt in Germany's Frankfurt before beginning the trans-Atlantic leg of the journey. He will now arrive five hours ahead of schedule.

Modi was earlier scheduled to leave for the US on September 26 for a six-day visit.
