Jadavpur molestation case: Students clash with police on campus
September 17, 2014  09:44
Thirty-five students from the Jadavpur University have been arrested after they held massive protests on campus on Tuesday night over the alleged molestation of a female student two weeks ago. The students surrounded the vice chancellor of the university alleging that the internal probe being conducted by the university on the case was unfair. The police resorted to lathicharge to break the protests. Students allege that teachers and staff, who are Trinamool Congress supporters, beat up the protesters. More than 30 students have been injured after the clashes.
The students have been sitting on protest at the main administrative building of the university since last Wednesday. They want an investigation into the alleged molestation of a second year student by boys from the university.
