What is keeping Vijay Chhibber Secretary, Union Ministry of Surface Transport, so busy these days? It certainly is not the state of the country's highways.

Instead, Chhibber is busy hosting lavish dinners in a bid to retain his seat as the President of the Delhi Gymkhana Club. Normally a two-year term, Chhibber is facing a challenge to stay on after his first year due to his inefficient and controversial tenure.

Desperate to retain his presidency Chhibber is pulling all stops, using his bureaucratic and other networks to woo the club voters.

All this is very well for Chhibber but what about the prime minister's diktat on being low profile and staying away from the city's watering holes. And finally, what about the state of our roads which should be Chhibber's priority in the first place?
