IAF report: 30 relief choppers in J-K, 2200 people rescued

The Indian Air Force says they have 50 aircraft operating in the flood-hit areas of J&K transporting relief material. Gerard Galway, IAF, PRO, says they have more than 30 helicopters providing relief material, food and medicines to stranded people. The IAF has have evacuated 2200 people including 800 who have been winched up. Operations are going on in full swing.

The army has said it aims to restore full connectivity to Srinagar in three to four days.

Naval marine commandos were deployed for the first time on Monday in the massive multi-agency rescue operations that were underway in flood-ravaged Jammu and Kashmir with the grim situation in the Valley further compounded by snapping of telecom links.
