Former CJI Sathasivam sworn in as Kerala governor

Former chief justice P Sathasivam on Friday took oath as the new governor of Kerala at the Raj Bhavan.

He succeeds former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit, who had resigned last week and who flew out of the state yesterday.

Sathasivam, who arrived in the state on Thursday evening, was received by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and other senior officials at the airport. He was also given a guard of honour.

Earlier, Dikshit was given a farewell by Chandy and his cabinet colleagues.

Sathasivam is the first former Supreme Court chief justice to become the governor of a state.
