Revealing his plans to make school education free of text books, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray today said an e-learning scheme for students would be launched across the state, if the 'Mahayuti' (grand alliance of Sena, BJP and other parties) comes to power after Maharashtra Assembly elections.

"We have decided to make school education textbook-free if voted to power in Maharashtra. Every government-run school in the state will be provided with an e-learning kit and television sets, where you just insert the CD and students can learn all their subjects in a digital format," Thackeray said addressing reporters at the Sena Bhawan, the party's headquarters in suburban Mumbai.
