Gujarat CM: Sardar Patel statue will be ready by 2018

Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel readies to flag off the construction of the Statue of Unity.

She says that all formalities have been completed and the contract has been given to L&T. The statue will be ready in four years.

The construction of the Statue of Unity on the Sardar Sarovar dam will begin on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31, 2014.

Gujarat Chief minister Anandiben Patel will launch the construction work at Kevadiya on what will be the world's tallest statue when completed.

The Sardar Patel statue is expected to cost Rs 2,500 crore. The state government is likely to sign a MOU on October 27 with L&T for the construction of the 182-meter-tall statue.
