Govt will bring in ordinance for re-allocation of coal blocks: Jaitley

Days after the Supreme Court cancelled allocation of 214 coal blocks, the government moved in passing an ordinance that will enable it to acquire the land of these mines along with plants for auction later. Speaking on the matter, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, "Auction of coal mines will be completed in 3-4 months and sufficient number of mines will be put up for e-auction." He added, "Power, steel, cement sectors were going to suffer because of non-functioning of coal mines whose allocation was cancelled." The government will auction the coal blocks to private companies.
