Maharashtra BJP president Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday said that Pankaja Munde had called him to say she had been misquoted over her statement that she wanted to be CM. "She herself called me up to explain that only half her statements were aired or printed," Fadnavis said. "She was upset over the statements attributed to her that appeared in the media."

However, on her website, http://www.pankajagopinathmunde.com/  a slideshow with her pictures, carries this message in Marathi: I want to be Maharashtra's first woman CM. The photograph reads: (Mala Maharashtrachi pahila mahila mukhyamantri vyahyla awdel).

On Friday, Pankaja created a stir in political circles by saying that she was willing to head the BJP government to fulfil the "aspirations" of her supporters and her late father's "dream". Pankaja, who is the daughter of the late Gopinath Munde, was talking informally to mediapersons.
