Devendra Fadnavis: Regrets of split with Sena will always be there
October 19, 2014  09:39
Devendra Fadnavis speaking to NDTV as leads indicate a BJP majority in both Maharashtra and Haryana.

"Trends are good, we are pleased with the results so far. I think we will get a majority in Maharashtra.

"I think the faith which Narendra Modi created has worked. Ultimately, it is Modi-ji's charisma which has worked. BJP president Amit Shah, also worked for the state. Modi created the atmosphere that the BJP can do it for the people.

On whether he can be congratulated as Maharashtra's next CM:

"No, I don't think so, don't congratulate me as CM. I am still the BJP state unit president. It is for the Parliamentary Board to decide. We will meet today or tomorrow. Right now I'm more concerned about the results. Whatever the party decides, I will obey.

Problems that ail Maharashtra

"No governance in Maharashtra, paralysis in policy, decision, implementation. Zero tolerance for corruption will be a big agenda for us."

On the break-up with the Shiv Sena

"We shared an alliance of ideology. Regrets will always be there. The Shiv Sena is not our political opponent. They will always be our friend. Don't want to speculate on what will happen. The Congress, NCP is our political opponent."
