Customs Commissioner Vasa Sheshagiri Rao said that the passenger, one Agwan Assamma, a Mumbai resident arrived at the Pune International Airport by Air India Express flight no IX-212 from Dubai. She then attempted to clear herself through the green channel by filing a NIL declaration form.

However, suspecting something foul, Deputy Commissioner of Customs K Rajesh Rama Rao intercepted her. After a detailed search was carried out, eight pieces of gold bars were recovered from her, which were concealed in a special vest on her upper body underneath her clothes.
