Modi, Rajapaksa meet at SAARC

PM Narendra Modi thanks Sri Lanka president Mahinda Rajapaksa for pardoning and sending back five Indian fishermen on death row, earlier this month.

Modi had spoke to the Sri Lankan President on November 9 over the death sentence handed out to five Indian fishermen.

The five - Emerson, P Augustus, R Wilson, K Prasath and J Langlet - were sentenced to death by the Colombo High Court on October 30 on charges of drug trafficking.

Following the conversation, the Sri Lankan president had pardoned the men.
