Modi greets party leaders on 1st day of Parliament
November 24, 2014  16:16
On the first day of the winter session of Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi went up to the Opposition benches to greet the leaders of various political parties. Nothing unusual in this, it's customary etiquette in Parliament.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi were absent in Parliament today, which meant the front row was empty.  And it probably saved Sonia the discomfiture of being greeted by the PM.

Modi stood for a few moments to greet Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav, who celebrated his 76th birthday on Saturday. Mulayam hugged Modi and thanked him for his wishes.

Modi then walked past the seats of LK Advani and Dr Murli Manohar Joshi.
