A powerful bomb was found in the compartment of a local train at a railway station near Guwahati today, a day after a blast killed two people and injured over 25 others in Dibrugarh.

The bomb found on a train in Kamrup district of Assam was defused by security officials. Sources say 7 kilos of explosives were recovered from the toilet of the train. Alert security personnel spotted an unclaimed plastic bag covered with a towel and wires sticking out from it.

The blast comes ahead of the PM's visit to the northeast beginning November 29.
