TMC MP charged with criminal conspiracy, misappropriation of funds

The arrest TMC MP Srinjoy Bose, is a huge setback for West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee. Bose is believed to be a close aide of the CM. The arrest comes after the CBI summoned Bose and grilled him for six hours today.

Bose is being probed for criminal conspiracy and misappropriation of funds.

Bose had helped Saradha Group group chief, Sudipta Sen (who is in jail) when it had started its media venture in 2010. The Saradha Group had started a newspaper called Sambad Pratidin, which folded up after the scam came to light.

The Rajya Sabha MP is believed to have been funded by Sen at different occasions.

The CBI claimed that Bose had misled the investigation as his statements did not match with documents which have been seized by the the investigating agency.
