Snowstorms hammer half of the US; five people killed

Snowstorms and record low temperatures whacked much of the US this week -- and there's more havoc coming. About 50% of the country had snow on the ground Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

In fact, a year's worth of snow is expected to fall in just three days in some areas, as winter comes early to much of the US, bringing record low temperatures. Read more
