Union government reacts to the Rampal siege.

Home minister Rajnath Singh says that he spoke to Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar over the phone who apprised him of the prevailing situation in Hissar.

Kiren Rijiju, MoS, Home: "It's a state subject, unless the state govt seeks assistance, specially forces, the Centre will not act. The state government is closely monitoring the situation and they are acting on the court's orders. We can't just interfere like that.

A large number of followers of godman Rampal, who had been holed up in his ashram for days, came out today and narrated how they were virtually confined there along with thousands more.  Police have put the number of people inside the ashram at 5000.
