Chief minister Mamata Banerjee "threw the mike" and was learnt to have walked out in the middle of an interview by a television channel in New Delhi after she was asked questions about the Saradha scandal. The interview was conducted by journalist Rajdeep Sardesai on Monday and aired on Headlines Today yesterday.

The transcript sent by the channel mentioned that "Mamata threw the mike" when Sardesai made a reference to the sale of her paintings.

In 2012, Mamata Banerjee walked off the stage during an interview with CNN IBN anchor Sagarika Ghose (who was with the news channel then). The question asked by a student in the audience upset her. The girl had asked her about the increasing attacks on women in the State, the infringement of democratic rights by the authorities. Mamata removed her microphone, handed it to Ghose and walked off the stage saying everyone in the audience were Maoists.
