IOA throws weight behind Sarita Devi after AIBA chief says her career is over

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and the sports ministry have finally decided to act in the case involving boxer L Sarita Devi.

Having stayed quiet when the Manipuri felt she was cheated in her semi-final bout against the Korean boxer at the Incheon Asian Games and her subsequent protest, the officials have now threatened legal action if she is banned by the International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA).

The development comes in the wake of AIBA chief Ching-kuo Wu claiming earlier in the day that Sarita Devi's boxing career is as good as over for the manner of her protest at the podium in Incheon.
