The US and China issued a joint announcement on climate change on Wednesday, pledging to take more action to limit harmful carbon and greenhouse gas emissions and pursue cleaner forms of energy. US President Obama set a new goal to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions in the US to 26 to 28 percent by 2025. President Xi announced his country will aim to peak CO2 emissions around 2030, and have at least 20 per cent of China's energy come from non-fossil fuel sources by that time.
