CNN-IBN reports: It is yet another social media embarrassment for politicians in Jammu and Kashmir. People's Democratic Party MLA Javed Mustafa Mir has been spotted brandishing an AK-47 openly.

An image has surfaced online showing Mir holding an AK-47 and standing casually next to an armed personnel.

The PDP leader has defended himself saying he was under threat and carried the weapon only for self defence.

The controversial pictures surfaced just a few days before the state will go to polls to elect 87-member Assembly.

Earlier this month, National Conference leader Nasir Aslam Wani's son was seen brandishing a gun, a photo of which was put up on a social networking site.
