ISIS is Syrias wild card, not Assad

The defeat suffered by the "moderate' Syrian opposition forces over the weekend near the city of Idlib in the northern part of the country at the hands of Al-Qaeda affiliated groups once again brings upfront the US strategy in Syria focused on defeating the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria [ISIS].

A Guardian report rightly points out that the development underscores the Western fallacy of creating a "moderate' proxy coalition to fight the ground war against the ISIS and the Syrian regime simultaneously.
