How the Polavaram project got the Prezs nod

President Pranab Mukherjee's welcome dinner to Narendra Modi's council of ministers after their swearing-in earlier this week, is well known.

What is not is that during the evening, ministers like Venkaiah Naidu and Ravi Shankar Prasad kept enquiring about the President's assent to the ordinance greenlighting the Polavaram project in Seemandhra.

But the law ministry had not included the documents for its clearance, leading to Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami going in and out of the dining hall to get the law ministry papers faxed. The procedure was completed at 9 pm, and the ordinance was then signed by the President.
