Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Monday said, that along with Gujarati favourites -- dhokla and gathiya -- Maharashtrian favourites like Vada pav, thalipeeth and misal pav should also be served in Parliament.

Shiv Sena, a key BJP ally, said this was the beginning of the "happy days" - a tag line coined by the BJP during the run-up to the 2014 Lok Sabha election.

Modi had joked that from now on Gujarati would be spoken in the PMO and dhokla and gathia would be served.

On Tuesday, Modi's first day at work had been marred by a sour note when Shiv Sena MP Anant Geete refused to take charge of his ministry. Geete's refusal had come even as all other ministers took charge of their respective portfolios on Tuesday.

The portfolio distribution had left a sour taste in Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray's mouth. Shiv Sena's sole member in the Cabinet, Anant Geete, got a relatively light-weight ministry, that of 'heavy industries'.

Geete, however, has assumed office today.
