The Congress party, except for Ajay Maken, seems to have learnt its lesson after the Mani Shankar Aiyar 'chaiwallah' fiasco. Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari now says, "When we criticize the government it should be on substance not superficiality. There is a difference in education, intelligence and literacy."

Digvijaya Singh also choose to stay non-controversial saying, "It's their prerogative, what can I say?...that they prefer Smriti Irani over Murli Manohar Joshi."
