Arun Jaitley takes charge as defence minister. "FDI in defence will be dealt with by defence and finance. Defence ministry is an additional charge for the next few weeks. External security is the prime responsibility of the defence ministry," he said.

Jaitley who also the Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister pledged to contain price rise, restore confidence of investors in the economy and promote growth while keeping the fiscal deficit under check.
