No other portfolio in the new government has generated as much interest as defence, with speculation rife over what Narendra Modi will do. Will he retain defence with himself, and have a junior minister handling it under him?

NDTV suggests that this is the path likely to be taken by the prime minister-designate.

However, our own sources say that Arun Jaitley, who is likely to be the new finance minister, will get additional charge of defence till the final decision on the important portfolio is taken by Modi at a later stage.
