Bihar: JD-U to seek trust vote today
May 23, 2014  09:20
The Janata Dal (United) government, which is facing tumultous days after the Lok Sabha poll results would be seeking trust vote in Bihar assembly on Friday.

The floor test comes after, Nitish Kumar resigned as Bihar chief minsiter and a close aide of his Jitan Ram Manjhi, a 'Mahadalit' leader, was on Tuesday sworn-in as the 23rd CM of the state.

Howver, the JD-U is all set to sail through the test in the assembly as not only the Congress but Lalu Prasad Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal has also announced to extend unconditional outside support to the government.

Lalu had on Thursday said that his party's "unconditional support" to the JD-U in Bihar is aimed at foiling BJP's "design" to capture power in the state, but evaded questions on future possibilities with Nitish Kumar's party

The JD-U has been dismayed by the poor performance of his party in the recently held polls. RJD's decision comes after the Bharatiya Janata Party-led by Narendra Modi registered an emphatic win in the General Elections. The party won 22 seats out of the total 40 in Bihar. The ruling JD-U led by Nitish Kumar managed to bag only 2 seats, while RJD won 4 parliamentary seats.
