Nitish Kumar, who has just quit as the chief minister of Bihar says, he takes full responsibility for the defeat in the polls. "I respect the mandate of the people. The polls this time were less about issues more about allegations. I had gone to the people for their votes on the basis of the work we had done in the state, but we did not get the mandate. The results of the polls will be analysed and discussed later within the party. My rivals indulged in mud slinging, while I focussed on development. Whatever dreams are being shown to the youth -- achhe din aa gaaye hain  -- let's see if the good days come back with Modi.

"There is polarization along communal lines in Bihar. I will continue to work for the people. I have not asked for the dissolution of the state assembly. Any coalition is welcome to form the government at the state.

The JDU has 118 seats in the 243 member cabinet.  "I have a majority in the assembly, yet I have chosen to resign on moral grounds," says Nitish.
